Here are some comments from past SSI students:
I am a third year medical student now and I still value and use the skills I learned in SSI.
The program established my appreciation of science and gave me the skills needed to succeed in college and life.
SSI changed me in so many positive ways. I came back home at the end of that summer with self-confidence, independence, knowledge, friends, self-worth, and left behind an eating disorder. I will forever be grateful for my experience.
Since SSI was mainly composed of a wide diversity of nationalities, I learned about many people, their culture, their dances, and best of all their food.
The summers with SSI shaped and molded me into a promising young scientist with strong ethics, uncompromising skills, and a thirst for uncovering the truth. I'm serious when I say that SSI made the critical difference in my life that allowed me to strive for excellence rather than settling for average.
I remember crying when it was time to leave, because I had made so many new friends we were practically like family.
